Fandom Entanglement is back with another retro review of the 90s sci-fi series, Sliders. This time, we’re taking a look at “Dead Man Sliding.”
On a world where the legal system is in the form of televised game shows, Quinn is arrested, tried, and sentenced to death for the crimes of his double.
Co-hosts Damon Sugameli & Mike Bloxam are thrilled to welcome back Matt Hutaff as, together, they tackle one of the better episodes of season three! We also look at how some aspects of the story once again parallel what’s happening in the real world (as Sliders often does) in the year 2025: notably, the increasing amount of “deep-fakes” that seem to be getting harder and harder to discern from reality, how they’re being exploited to cast doubt on what’s actually real, and media manipulation that “alters” facts for the sake of ratings and to control what the population is exposed to. Rounding things out, Matt once again takes us through the various drafts and revisions that this particular episode underwent, right down to alternate casting choices that might have occurred in another dimension. Hope you enjoy our analysis and review!
