In the 1940s a uranium mine near the small coastal town of Paradise collapsed. The resulting radiation turned a worm into a huge mutant beast that ate people and secreted an immortality ooze.
Sound utterly absurd? We agree. The story was reported in the San Francisco Chronicle in 1997 but we didn’t even bother to send an investigative unit to follow-up. We were far more fascinated with the U.S.-Canada border conflicts.
Actually, we weren’t.
